Angels Walk Foundation Inc was born from personal experiences witnessing the profound impact of individuals embodying the spirit of angels—kindhearted beings making a difference in both subtle and significant ways. It's a tribute to the everyday angels among us.

MISSION

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and families in need through innovative programs designed to mentor, educate, inspire, and foster recovery and community.

Our vision is to offer a secure, collective, and supportive setting that fosters recovery and inspires hope—creating an environment where individuals find solace, connection, and encouragement through retreats and community initiatives on their healing journey.

Kimberly Pay-Lian, Executive Director

Kimberly, the Founder and Executive Director of Angel’s Walk Foundation Inc., is a retired Senior Federal Law Enforcement Agent who served with the Department of Homeland Security, holding a top-secret security clearance. With an exceptional career rooted in leadership, she ran and led high-stakes team missions, leveraging her expertise to ensure operational success and public safety. A certified federal firearms instructor through The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) and certified federal fitness instructor, Kimberly continues to share her skills by personally teaching firearms instruction to this day, inspiring others through her dedication and hands-on guidance.

Kimberly’s academic foundation includes an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Corrections, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. This robust education, paired with her extensive professional experience, has equipped her with the strategic vision and practical know-how to lead impactful initiatives. As a former Probation Officer and Senior Federal Agent, she developed a profound understanding of the legal system and community needs, which she now channels into her nonprofit work.

Through Angel’s Walk Foundation Inc., Kimberly exemplifies servant leadership, building a legacy of support and empowerment for those in need. Her commitment to public service shines through her ability to inspire teams, mentor individuals, and create meaningful change, reflecting a lifelong mission to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Jamie Mandia, Director of Recovery Program

Jamie brings a dynamic blend of leadership, expertise, and compassion to her role as Director of Recovery Program, shaped by her impactful tenure as Director of Clean Recovery Center. With a career in addiction recovery spanning back to 2015, Jamie has honed her ability to guide teams, design innovative treatment strategies, and foster lasting change in the lives of individuals battling addiction. Her leadership at Clean Recovery Center sharpened her skills in program development, staff mentorship, and strategic oversight—qualities she now leverages to empower those in recovery and elevate the nonprofit’s mission.

Jamie’s approach is both hands-on and visionary. She excels at crafting individualized treatment plans that address communication, social, and daily living skills, ensuring sustained progress for each person she serves. Her experience managing operations at Clean Recovery Center equipped her with a deep understanding of how to implement effective recovery frameworks, optimize resources, and adapt to the evolving needs of the community. This expertise allows her to lead the Recovery Program with a focus on innovation and measurable outcomes.

A graduate of the prestigious Recovery Coach Academy at the Packard Institute, Inc. in 2019, Jamie pairs her formal training with real-world experience from CAR Addiction Recovery, keeping her at the forefront of industry advancements. Her commitment to continuous professional development ensures she brings cutting-edge techniques and evidence-based practices to her leadership role. Jamie’s unique combination of directorial acumen and heartfelt dedication makes her an inspiring force in addiction recovery, perfectly suited to steer the nonprofit’s Recovery Program toward transformative success.

Angel Monroe, Director of Widow/er Program

Angel’s journey is a testament to resilience, leadership, and the transformative power of community. At just 29, Angel faced an unimaginable loss when her first husband died suddenly in a car accident in December 2020, leaving her to raise their 1- and 3-year-old daughters alone. Amid her grief and isolation, she recognized a critical gap in support for young widows like herself—a gap she was determined to fill.

In 2021, Angel founded the Extremely Young & Widowed Group, an exclusive Facebook community designed to connect and uplift those navigating early widowhood. Under her visionary leadership, the group has flourished, growing to an impressive 10,800+ followers. Angel’s ability to cultivate a safe, engaging, and supportive online space showcases her exceptional skills in community building, digital outreach, and empathetic leadership. She has adeptly managed the group’s rapid expansion while fostering meaningful connections among members, offering resources, and amplifying the voices of the often-overlooked young widowed population.

A graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science Engineering, Angel brings technical expertise to her role as a full-time Architect Software Systems Engineer. Yet it is her proven capacity to harness technology and human connection—demonstrated through the success of Extremely Young & Widowed—that uniquely equips her to lead as Director of the Widow/er’s Program for this nonprofit. In this role, she draws on her experience to design and implement initiatives that empower widows and widowers, ensuring they find strength and solidarity in their shared journey.

Shanyn Eckstien - Recovery Program Coordinator

With a distinguished four-year tenure in the United States Navy Military, Shanyn Eckstein, a veteran, has been an integral part of Clean Recovery as a Behavioral Health Technician since 2020. In this capacity, she has demonstrated exceptional skills in implementing treatment plans, maintaining meticulous records, and fostering a nurturing and supportive environment for patients. Additionally, as a recovery mentor, Shanyn has provided personalized care and unwavering support to individuals grappling with mental health disorders and undergoing recovery. Her role as a recovery mentor has further honed her ability to effectively guide and support individuals on their journey to recovery. Currently, Shanyn is actively pursuing her nursing degree at Keiser University, showcasing her commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Alycia Holt Melchor - Widow/er Program Coordinator & Grant Writer

Alycia Melchor brings five years of specialized fundraising expertise, beginning in 2020, and her personal experience as a widow to her roles as Widow/er Program Coordinator and Volunteer Grant Writer for Angels Walk Foundation Inc. With a strong foundation in donor relations, fundraising strategy, and event management, she has driven impactful initiatives at Good Reason Houston (2023–2024) as an Advancement Associate and at Incarnate Word Academy (2020–2023) as Database Coordinator. Her professional skills, combined with her empathy as a widow, enable her to lead programs that empower young widows and widowers with unparalleled compassion.

Alycia excels at crafting persuasive grant proposals and orchestrating fundraising campaigns, leveraging her strategic insight and meticulous organizational skills to secure critical resources. Her experience managing budgets, vendor contracts, and cross-functional teams ensures flawless execution of programs and events, such as the foundation’s annual Widows Retreat, delivering meaningful community impact. Since 2020, Alycia has mastered donor database systems and communication platforms, strengthening her ability to foster lasting donor relationships and advance program goals.

Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication from the University of Houston (2020), Alycia’s professional expertise and personal journey as a widow make her an invaluable asset to Angels Walk Foundation Inc. Her ability to blend strategic fundraising with heartfelt, relatable program coordination drives transformative support for young widows and widowers.
